BLUER HOUSE Café is located at Johor, Malaysia along the lively street of Jalan Ibrahim within a traditional shophouse. The long and narrow layout has opens itself to the street through large windows, allowing visual connection between the interior and the five-foot way. Inviting people to enter for a calm pause from the surrounding bustle.
Taking cues from the surroundings, the material palette is brutalist and raw. Exposed concrete plaster and stainless steel finishes are balanced by the warmth of raw birch plywood with a kit-kat porcelain tile backsplash adds texture and warmth to the cafe’s welcoming atmosphere for people to enjoy coffee, sourdough, sandwiches and cakes.
This project beautifully marries the iconic Mid-century modern and Scandinavian aesthetics, forming a home that is a harmonious reflection of a creative family of three. In the company of clients who appreciate fine craftsmanship and the art of curation, this home has organically transformed into a natural extension of their lifestyle: a haven where art, music and design coexist.
